Numerical Simulation of Proppant Dynamics in a Rough Inclined Fracture

چکیده
Although the dynamics of proppant (small ceramic balls used to prevent opened fractures from closing on release pressure) have been subject several numerical studies over recent years, large-scale inclined exist in unconventional reservoirs for which relevant information is still missing. In present study, this problem investigated numerically considering influence factors such as fracture roughness, inclination, particle size, injection rate and fluid viscosity. The results show that a rough wall enables travel farther cover larger areas. inclination angle has little effect dune but significant suspension zone. area zone increases with decrease angle, its value an 15° 20 times at 90°. Small high rate, fracturing viscosity beneficial transport; vice versa they hinder settling phenomena.

Avalanche dynamics on a rough inclined plane.
The avalanche behavior of gravitationally forced granular layers on a rough inclined plane is investigated experimentally for different materials and for a variety of grain shapes ranging from spherical beads to highly anisotropic particles with dendritic shape. We measure the front velocity, area, and height of many avalanches and correlate the motion with the area and height. We also measure ...
متن کاملNumerical Simulation of Scaling Effect on Bubble Dynamics in a Turbulent Flow around a Hydrofoil
A Lagrangian-Eulerian numerical scheme for the investigation of bubble motion in turbulent flow is developed. The flow is analyzed in the Eulerian reference frame while the bubble motion is simulated in the Lagrangian one. Finite volume scheme is used, and SIMPLEC algorithm is utilized for the pressure and velocity linkage. The Reynolds stresses are modeled by the RSTM model of Launder. Upwind ...
متن کاملNumerical simulation of mixed convection heat transfer of nanofluid in an inclined enclosure by applying LBM
Mixed convection of Cu-Water nanofluid is studied numerically in a shallow inclined enclosure by applying lattice Boltzmann method. The D2Q9 lattice and internal energy distribution function based on the BGK collision operator are used in order to develop the thermal flow field. The enclosure's hot lid has the constant velocity of U0 while its cold lower wall has no motion. Moreover, sidewalls ...
متن کاملNew Insight on Deformation of Walnut/Ceramic Proppant Pack under Closure Stress in Hydraulic Fracture: Numerical Investigation
This study is an attempt to investigate the mechanical behavior of proppant packs deforming under compression loading. A generalized confined compression test (CCT) was simulated in the present study to investigate the deformation of walnut/ceramic proppants against compression. In this way, the CCT was simulated using ABAQUS explicit code. Unlike ordinary CCT, we obtained permeability of compr...
متن کاملNumerical simulation of Al2O3–water nanofluid mixed convection in an inclined annulus
Laminar mixed convection of Aluminium oxide (Al2O3)–water nanofluid flow in an inclined annulus using a single-phase approach was numerically studied. Constant heat flux boundary conditions were applied on the inner and outer walls. All the thermophysical properties of nanofluid, such as, viscosity, heat capacity, thermal conductivity, and thermal expansion coefficient, except density in the bo...
